Ellen S. Solomita Day of Service

Honoring Ellen

Our dear friend and classmate Ellen Solomita '89 passed away unexpectedly on October 10, 2021. Many of you knew Ellen from her time as a student in Green Gables, as President of Student Government Association, as an engaged alumna, or from her time working on campus. Ellen was everyone's biggest cheerleader, and loved Babson and all of the amazing friends the College brought into her life.

Ellen was always finding ways to stay connected and give back to current students and the alumni network. Her "off" hours at Babson were often spent volunteering for the College—most notably through the Coaching for Leadership and Teamwork Program, the Center for Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership, and various reunion committees. Because of her tireless service to the College, she was awarded the Richard Snyder Distinguished Service to the College Award in 2004.

Working with Ellen's family and dearest friends, we think we've found the perfect way to honor her: we're raising money to create a fund which would support the annual effort for alumni/ae from around the globe to perform service together. Currently the day is not named and does not include the campus community – this effort would help to bring it all together under the direction of the Alumni Engagement Office. What better way to remember Ellen then by joining together in service, something that was so important to her. Ellen was always thinking of others and truly cared about those around her.

In order to make this day sustainable for years to come we've set a goal of raising $100,000 in Ellen's honor by her birthday, February 13. Please note: you can make a one time, monthly or annual gift. All donations received through this page will help fund this initiative. If you have already contributed in honor of Ellen, those funds will be directed here. Thank you for considering a donation to celebrate Ellen's life and honor her commitment to Babson.
